Celebrations for the 28th Yonkers Puerto Rican/Hispanic parade began today at 11 a.m. with an artisan exhibition at the Yonkers Public Library's Riverfront branch at 1 Larkin Center.
The parade will begin on Sunday, June 24 at 1 p.m. and will run on South Broadway from McLean Avenue to Getty Square.
There will be Salsa singers center stage for the parade, and grand marshal and Grammy-winning singer Andy Montañez will lead the parade
Musicians will be prominent this year because of this year's theme, Nuestra Música: Hoy, Mañana y Siempre (Our Music: Today, Tomorrow and Forever).
Local parade honorees include Rabbi Rogoberto Emmanuel Viñas of the Lincoln Park Jewish Center, who is being recognized for his contributions to the city's Hispanic community.
post-parade festival runs from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. in the Chicken Island parking lot, at Nepperhan Avenue and School Street.
