Upcoming Strategic Opportunity Stipends (SOS) Deadline - Wed., May 28th, 2008
Strategic Opportunity Stipends (SOS) provides grants designed to help individual artists of all disciplines take advantage of specific, unique opportunities that will significantly benefit their work or career. These are $100-$600 grants for forthcoming opportunities (not necessarily projects) that are distinct from an artist's ongoing work. The next deadline is May 28, 2008. This deadline is for opportunities occurring between July 1, 2008 and October 31, 2008.
To apply:
1. Applicants must be at least 18 years old and a full-time resident for the past year of one of the participating New York State counties (see step 3 or page 6 of the application. NOTE: SOS is NOT available to residents of the 5 boroughs of New York City). Applicants cannot be enrolled in a graduate or undergraduate degree program at the time of application.

About the panel:
The panel will look for a specific, unique opportunity that is likely to advance your career. This should be an opportunity that is new in relation to your career thus far, and you should clearly explain the benefit of participation in the opportunity. Examples of fundable and non-fundable activities are included on page 2 of the application.
