The Yonkers Pops Band will play their annual two free concerts at Untermeyer Park on Sunday, June 15 and Sunday, June 22.
Both concerts start at 2:00 p.m. at Untermyer Park, located at 945 North Broadway.
Sunday, June 15 - "Yonkers Pops Favorites"
On Sunday, June 15 Milton Kabak will lead a band of 25 professional musicians and perform an entertaining program filled with something for everyone. The afternoon will include highlights from The Music Man, Great Themes from Italian Movies, Swingin' Songs of Yesterday, Invercargill March, and Irving Berlin's Songs for America. Taking center stage during Sergei's Theme and Who Can I Turn To? will be soloists Josephine Violin and Aaron Sachs, on the English Horn and tenor saxophone, respectively.
Sunday, June 22 - "Something Old, Something New"
On Sunday, June 22 the band will play selections from both A Chorus Line and Les Miserables, A Tribute to Sammy Davis Jr., a collection of Frank Sinatra favorites, Tin Pan Alley, a medley of patriotic songs, and the Florintiner March. The program will also include Song for Barbara, featuring French Horn soloists Barbara Reineke, and Theme and Variation, featuring trumpet soloist Ed Seldin.
*Concert-goers must bring their own chairs or blankets.
*Free parking is available on North Broadway and nearby streets.
In the event of rain, both concerts will move indoors to the Charles Cola Community Center, located immediately inside the entrance to Untermyer Park.
These programs are presented by the Yonkers Department of Parks and Recreation and are co- sponsored by Local 38-398, American Federation of Musicians.
