Workshops for Westchester Artist Grants

There are two types of grants available to individual artists: They are both described below.

The Westchester Arts Council will be sponsoring a series of workshops to help artists craft the best applications possible. It is highly recommended that you read the Guidelines and attend a meeting before you submit your application.

Applications are due in early September. (see guidelines below for exact details)

MEETINGS ARE AS FOLLOWS:

Wednesday, July 9 at 5pm at the Arts Exchange, home of the Westchester Arts Council, 31 Mamaroneck Ave, White Plains

Thursday, July 17 at 3pm at the Port Chester Library, 1 Haseco Ave, Port Chester

Monday, July 21 at 1pm at the Mt. Vernon Library, 28 South First Avenue, Mt. Vernon

Tuesday, July 29 at 4pm at the Paramount Center for the Arts, 1008 Brown Street, Peekskill

Tuesday, August 5 at 5pm at the Arts Exchange, home of the Westchester Arts Council, 31 Mamaroneck Ave, White Plains

Friday, August 8 at 2pm at the Warner Library, 121 North Broadway Tarrytown.

Wednesday, August 13 at 11am at the Bethel Baptist Church, 37 Maple Ave, Mt. Kisco. Hosted by the Mt. Kisco Library

Tuesday, August 19 at 2pm at the New Rochelle Library, 1 Library Plaza, New Rochelle

Thursday, August 21 at 5pm at the Yonkers Riverfront Public Library, 1 Larkin Center, Yonkers. Hosted by Yonkers Arts

Thursday, August 28 at 5pm at the Arts Exchange, home of the Westchester Arts Council, 31 Mamaroneck Ave, White Plains

DESCRIPTIONS OF GRANTS

Arts Alive Artist Grants: Arts Alive Artist Grants provide direct support to artists to create original new work that incorporates the community as context. Projects must be initiated by the artist and the community orientation must be integral to the project and to the creative process. The disciplines eligible for support are Choreography, Film/Video, Writing, Multi-Discipline Arts, Music Composition, and Visual Arts. Funding Source: Decentralization Program of the New York State Council on the Arts.

Arts Alive Project Grants: Arts Alive Project Grants support cultural programs at the community level, including artist-driven projects, projects produced by emerging cultural organizations, historic sites, and projects that showcase particular cultural traditions. This is the category in which first-time applicants are generally most competitive. Funding source: Decentralization Program of New York State Council on the Arts.
