We are pleased to announce an open round of the Y2009 Arts Alive Project and Arts Alive Artist grants. We encourage you to apply to all the grants for which you are eligible. The guidelines and applications are available for download at our website www.westarts.com. The deadline to submit an application for either of these grants is Friday, September 19, 2008. Arts Alive Project grants support arts & cultural programs at the community level. This is the category in which first time applicants to Westchester Arts Council are generally most competitive. Artists can apply, but must apply in tandem with a fiscal agent organization in order to be eligible for this grant. These grants provide awards between $1,000 and $5,000. Arts Alive Artist grants provide direct support to individual artists to create original new work that incorporates the community as context. Projects must be initiated by the artist and reflection of the community must be integral to the project and to the creative process. These grants provide at least two awards to artists, each of $2,500. Changes have been made to the guidelines so we highly recommend potential applicants carefully read through them and attend an application seminar. Several application seminars have been scheduled and are listed in each of the guidelines. The first seminar is being held July 9th at 5:00pm at the Arts Exchange, home of the Westchester Arts Council in White Plains. Additionally, one-on-one technical assistance is be available at anytime between now and one week prior to the deadline. Please contact staff to schedule a meeting.
