Holiday Season- Free Admission to the Hudson River Museum!

Friday, November 28 through Sunday, January 4 - FREE Admission to the Hudson River Museum!

Admission to the Hudson River Museum will be FREE for the entire holiday season. From the day after Thanksgiving through the weekend following New Year's, bring the family to enjoy the holiday décor and programming. It's the museum's gift to you!
(Planetarium fees still apply for weekend star shows.)
Where: Hudson River Museum, 511 Warburton Avenue in Yonkers
When: Museum hours are: Wed-Sun 12 - 5 p.m. and Fri 12 - 8 p.m.
Who: All ages, however for specific programs, age appropriateness varies; check individual programs listed in this calendar and at www.hrm.org .
How: Just show up!

Creative Workshop
Sunday, November 30

The Snow Maiden, a puppet show
2 - 3 pm
Snowmaiden

The Snowmaiden puppet show, a winter fantasy based on a Russian folktale, performed by Purple Rock Productions Puppet Theatre with marionettes, live music and an introductory Russian folk dance. The set resembles a Russian lacquer box, the puppets are performed in Toy Theatre style. Guitar and balalaika music combine to set the mood and add special sound effects.



Winter Collage12:30 - 2 pm
What do you like to do when it’s cold outside? Explore the snow, ice and cold of winter through collage.

Curator Laura Vookles tours Glenview, bedecked for the holidays, and discusses the origins of Victorian traditions still part of today’s celebration.

19th-century songs and stories in period costume by Merchant House Museum artists in- residence.

1 – 3 pm - Family Workshop
Make a Winter wreath of ribbons, lace, and faux flowers with Museum Junior Docents.

Native American stories show the winter solstice and the earth’s passage, as days grow longer, from darkness to light. Mask, dance, and painted scrolls by Mystic Paper Beasts Theater Company.

Daughter of the Stars • 3:30 pm
Planetarium Show: Native American stories of the sky.
* Planetarium tickets: $2 adults, $1 Seniors, Youth 5 - 16. Members FREE

Leave a New Year’s resolution, wish or story at the Museum’s Solstice Circle, a ring-shaped calendar representing earth’s orbit around the sun.
