Yonkers Philharmonic/ Fine Arts Orchestral Society of Yonkers
The Fine Arts Orchestral Society of Yonkers (FAOS) is the non-profit sponsor of the Yonkers Philharmonic Orchestra. FAOS provides free live symphonic concerts to residents of the city of Yonkers and its surrounding communities. In the past, the orchestra has performed outdoors in Getty Square and at the Cross County Shopping Center, the Hudson River Museum, the Yonkers Marina, and Untermyer Park.
FAOS was founded by Pasquale A. Pistone and Dr. Kathleen Pistone Carucci in 1962.
Sponsored by FAOS, The Yonkers Philharmonic Orchestra, under the direction of Conductor James Sadewhite, offers four free concerts annually, each with professional soloists. The orchestra is comprised of approximately 65-70 musicians. The June concert features the finalists of the annual Concerto Competition for High School students in Westchester County.
All concerts are on Sunday afternoons at Saunders Trade & Technical High School, Palmer Road, Yonkers, New York. Concerts have also been held at the Cross County Shopping Center in Yonkers and the Riverfront Library in Yonkers.
