Lanny Lasky creates boxes, sculptures, and collages from discarded materials-- old, frail bits of discolored fabric, pieces of wood and metal that have been burned or weathered over time, bits of machinery, and other miscellaneous objects both large and small that come from flea markets and old-fashioned town dumps, and other people's attics and basements. For Lanny, these materials echo their origins in ways that carry with them elements of nostalgia, a sense of the macabre, and sometimes wit. The pieces are highly personal, and the final arbiter is always the artist's own aesthetic judgement.
Lanny is one of the artists of the Yoho community, and maintains a studio there.
