Veronika Hart is a painter and illustrator with a studio in YoHo. Born and raised in East Africa, she spent a number of years as a medical illustrator and commercial illustrator. In 1993 she returned to oil painting, and since then her work as won numerous prizes and is featured in private collections throughout the US and Canada.The cornerstone of her work is composition. For the past ten years she has concentrated mainly on painting the human figure in the style of classical masters, focusing on self-portraiture, and incorporating family members into the paintings. Currently she is experimenting with ways to bridge traditional and contemporary art using her African background for inspiration.
