2) Call for Entries: Open Studios Press
DEADLINE: March 31, 2008
The Open Studios Press, creator of New American Paintings, is pleased to announce a new series of juried artist catalogs called Studio Visit. This competition will result in volumes 3 and 4 of Studio Visit and is due out in Fall of 2008.
Unlike New American Paintings, Studio Visit will be a nationally focused publication that presents all two- and three- dimensional work. Selected artists will be provided with one full page that will include a full color image, contact information and a brief artist statement. Each volume will be juried by a professional curator and produced to the highest quality standards that can be used as a valuable promotional tool.
Once published, Studio Visit will be mailed to 1,500 of the nation's top galleries and curators and a growing subscriber base of over 500 collectors and art enthusiasts.

4) Call for Artists: MTA Metro-North Railroad: Philipse Manor Station DEADLINE: APRIL 2, 2008
MTA Arts for Transit invites professional artists to submit images of previous works for a commission to create original two-dimensional site-specific work for the MTA Metro-North Philipse Manor Station on the Hudson Line in Westchester.

10) Call for Entries: Clearwater Environmental Short Film Competition
DEADLINE: APRIL 30, 2008
The Clearwater Environmental Short Film Festival is now accepting entries for the first annual Clearwater Environmental Short Film Competition (CESFC), a collaboration of music, song, poetry and video to promote environmental action.
The CESFC is a juried national competition for new filmmakers, musicians, songwriters, and poets expressing their concern and interest for the environment through original music and song in a one-to-three minute video.
The competition is sponsored by the Hudson River Sloop Clearwater, Inc., a non-profit, member-supported environmental organization, created over 40 years ago by the legendary Pete Seeger to defend and restore the Hudson River.
All entries must be uploaded to http://www.youtube.com and the submission application must be faxed or mailed by April 30, 2008 to qualify.
The Top Ten Finalists will be announced and have a link to their YouTube video appear on the Clearwater website on June 1st. In addition, the finalists will have their videos premiered at the Clearwater Music and Environmental Festival the weekend of June 21st and 22nd, held at Croton Point Park, Westchester County, New York. All Top Ten Finalists will receive a pair of free weekend passes to the Festival.
Voting for 1st, 2nd and 3rd place prize winners by attendees of the Clearwater Music and Environmental Festival will take place on June 21st and 22nd, 2008, at Croton Point Park, Westchester County, New York. Winners will be announced on the Clearwater Festival website, and will be publicized.

11) Call for Artists: Dieu Donne Workspace Program
DEADLINE: May 16, 2008
Established in 1990, the Workspace Program now offers six annual residencies to New York State emerging artists to create new work in handmade paper. The program seeks to encourage emerging artists to explore the creative possibilities of handmade paper, develop this art form, and promote the artists through exhibitions of their work produced at Dieu Donne.
Dieu Donne defines an emerging artist as "an artist who is professionally unrecognized but stylistically evolved." Artists from all disciplinary and cultural backgrounds are encouraged to apply. Applications will not be accepted from students enrolled in undergraduate or graduate degree programs during the program year (July 2008-June 2009). Applicants must be New York State residents and must be U.S. citizens or permanent residents of the U.S.
Six artists will be selected by panel & interview process to participate in the Workspace Program. Each artist will receive a $700 honorarium, advance preparation of materials and professional assistance during a seven day collaboration (days are non-consecutive). The staff consults with each artist in order to strategize a logical approach in realizing their work through handmade paper. They will also prepare the pulp, solve technical issues and collaborate with the artist in the fabrication and drying of the work.

12) Call to Artists: Harrison Council for the Arts

The Harrison Council for the Arts, Harrison, NY seeks entries for its 2009 Juried Art Program. Artists who are interested in exhibiting at the Harrison Public Library, Bruce Avenue, Harrison, NY for approximately one month during 2009 are invited to submit samples of their artwork for review by a Juried Art Committee sponsored by the Harrison Council for the Arts.
The samples and related items may be dropped off at the Library on Friday, May 16, 2008 after 9:30 a.m. and must be picked up the next day after 11:30 a.m. Two-dimensional art only is eligible. The samples must include two different pieces of the actual art (unframed OK), the artist’s resume and at least 12 copies (all different/representational of the artist’s work) either in the form of 35 mm slides or photos or prints.

The Smithtown Township Arts Council is now accepting entries for The Art of Music, an exhibition seeking to capture the total music environment: the performers, the lights, the audience, and the instruments. Open to all artists and all visual media. The exhibition is to be held June 7- July 1, 2008 at the Mills Pond House Gallery, and one winning artist will be selected to participate in STAC’s annual Winner’s Showcase. Exhibited work may not exceed 54" in width. Deadline for entries is April 30, 2008, and must be submitted as 300 ppi jpeg files on CD only (1800x1800).
