appearing at the Yonkers Library Theater, Grinton I. Will Branch,
Wednesday June 18 at 7PM.
The library is located in Yonkers at 1500 Central Park Avenue, one
block south of Tuckahoe Road.
They will perform "A TRIBUTE TO THE GREAT AMERICAN SONG BOOK". The
songs of Cole Porter, Irving Berlin, George and Ira Gershwin, Jerome
Kern and others. Tickets are available at the door for $15 general
admission, seniors and students $8.
They last appeared at the library on March 22 , 2008 and received a
standing ovation.
BOB STEWART is a singer, poet, actor and a master interpreter of "The
Great American Song Book" all rolled into one. All of these
descriptions refer to the unique and proficient manner in which he
reinvents the classic songs of yesteryear.
An accomplished jazz stylist and critically acclaimed recording
artist, Stewart has received many awards including the prestigious
Back Stage Bistro Award and has many times been voted one of the 10
best male singers by Down Beat Magazine. Bob has recorded five albums
for VWC Records. His latest release "DID I REMEMBER" songs from "The
Great American Song Book" features the legendary pianists Hank Jones
and Sir Roland Hanna.
Bob has been mentioned in two recently published books. "Bing Crosby,
The Early Years" by Gary Giddins and "Potshot" by Robert B. Parker.
Mr. Giddins describes Bob as one of Bing Crosby's musical offspring
along with Frank Sinatra and Dick Haymes.
Robert B. Parker writes, "Sinatra died, Hartman died, Joe Williams
and Mel Torme are gone, thank God we have Bob Stewart."
