Yonkers, NY - Veterans and their service to our country will be the theme of a special "Salute to Veterans Concert" presented by the Yonkers Pops Band on Sunday, November 9 at 2:00 pm.
This free performance of All- American music will take place at Saunders High School, 183 Palmer Road, just east of the Saw Mill River Parkway.
The Yonkers Pops Band, best known for its summer concerts at Untermyer Park, is under the direction of Milton Kabak and consists of 25 professional musicians.
The program includes three marches: "Manhattan Beach", "American Patrol", and "Our Heritage", highlights from Broadway's
South Pacific and The Music Man, a medley of tunes from Bob Hope films, patriotic selections entitled "Songs for America", musical memories from World War II entitled "The Home Front", and a salute to the U.S. armed forces.
Vocalist Kathy Hart joins the band to sing songs from the 1940's. Her selections will include "I'll be Seeing You", "The White Cliffs of Dover", "It's Been a Long, Long Time", and "Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy of Company B".
